LAUDATO SI’ MEETING 1st JUNE

Our Laudato Si’ Group aims to respond to the message of Pope Francis to hear the cries of the earth and the poor. We believe that small actions are significant steps and this has encouraged the group to reflect upon a better use of St Peter’s church grounds.  A small space behind the church building is being developed into an allotment and the group also plans to prepare a wild flower area and develop outdoor spaces for people to sit and reflect. We were successful in obtaining a grant from the Gateshead Covid Champions Fund, which has enabled us to buy fruit trees, develop raised beds and planting areas and order benches made from recycled plastic. Recently all ages enjoyed a wonderful tree planting Sunday afternoon.  If you missed out on this, more trees are on the way!

Everyone is welcome to be part of the Laudato Si’ Group which meets this Wednesday 1st June at 7pm in St Peter’s Church. We have invited Lya Vollering from the Minsteracres Eco-Community to speak to us and share some ideas. Lya is an inspiring speaker and, weather permitting, will lead us on a walk in the grounds. All are invited to come along and find out more.
