Bereavement Support

Bereavement – The Ministry of Consolation.

When someone we love dies it changes our lives forever.

We are all called to support and pray for those who have died and for their families and friends. There is a book where the names of loved ones can be placed and on each anniversary the book is open on that page for prayer.

The days following a death can be a time of great pain and confusion. Concerns and worries regarding what has to be done can be overwhelming.

The priest or deacon will visit the family soon after the death, at a time and place that is convenient to the family. They along with the funeral assistant will offer support, help and ongoing assistance to arrange the funeral that the family feel is right for their loved one and for them.

There is the offer of further visits following the funeral if the family wish.

Each year on the feast of the Holy Souls we have a Mass which remembers and prays for all who have died in the last year, together with their families and friends. There is an opportunity to light a candle for a loved one during this Mass and the names of all who have died are read out. Each family will receive a letter inviting them to this Mass.
