Welcome to the Outreach Weekly News for the Fourth Sunday of Easter.

  LAUDATO SI’ NEWS

BIKE RACKS: Exciting news from our Laudato Si’ group is that the bike racks project has been successfully completed. We now have bike racks at St Peter’s at the side of the church near the outside hall door.  They were provided free from the ParkThatBike scheme in association with Gateshead Council. The bike racks will, hopefully, encourage a safe green transport option for our parish community. Huge thanks to Kevin Coxon for fitting these and to Bernadette Hirst for the initial idea and research.

FRUIT TREES: Sunday 1st May was a really successful afternoon when a number of parishioners arrived to help create St Peter’s Orchard. It was a wonderful atmosphere with families and friends, young and old, all mucking in to help get the twelve trees planted. Everyone enjoyed the activity despite some very challenging digging and the car park is now transformed! Enormous thanks to everyone who took part but a special mention must go to Mick Quille for sourcing and ordering the trees and masterminding the day. We hope to get more trees soon to extend the orchard along the west side of the car park in front of the wooden fencing. This orchard belongs to us all and, hopefully, everyone will benefit either by helping to nurture the trees or simply to sit and enjoy the peace and beauty of the area.
