PRAYER VIGIL AT DERWENTSIDE IRC

A monthly prayer vigil has been held outside the barrier to Derwentside Immigration Removal Centre for the last year. The first anniversary vigil takes place this Sunday 5th June at 3.00pm. There is a short prayer service which includes a time of silence. The postcode for the Centre on Corbridge Road, Medomsley is DH8 6QY. Please come along if you can. On Sunday morning, Dr Beverley Prevatt Goldstein, one of the regular participants will be interviewed by local radio about the prayer vigils and why she feels they are important. Please tune into Radio Newcastle at 7.50am to hear her.

MEETING OF THE OUTREACH GROUP 7th JUNE 7.00pm in St Peter’s Hall. This is an open meeting and it would be good to see everyone there. Please come along to listen and to contribute your thoughts. More details on the Community Support page.

TIMES OF MASSES AND SERVICES

Corpus Christi: Mass on Sundays at 9.15am and Thursdays at 10.00am.

St Peter’s: Mass on Sundays at 11.00am and Wednesdays at 10.00am.

Holy Rosary: Mass or Eucharistic Service on Saturdays at 10.00am.

FOOD CO-OP

The Food Coop is open every Tuesday. Food donations can be brought to Corpus Christi Church on Monday 9.30am-12.00pm and on Tuesday before 10.30am or St Peter’s presbytery back door at any time in the container provided. Please bring fresh fruit and vegetables only on Saturday, Sunday or Monday.

Food will be collected from St Peter’s on Monday and Tuesday mornings at 8.30am. Items required:

FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLES, PASTA SAUCE, HOT DOGS, MEAT BALLS, RICE, CEREAL.

JOE’S PLACE

Joe’s Place is open every Wednesday and is appealing for the following items which can be placed at any time in the container at St Peter’s presbytery back door:

TINS OF HAM, CORNED BEEF, MINCE and STEWING STEAK, CHOCOLATE BISCUITS (individually wrapped). We are very much in need of more sleeping bags if anyone can help.
